Description: The Florida Teacher institute is a one-week residential summer program for non-agricultural elementary, middle, and high school teachers across the state of Florida interested in implementing agricultural and life sciences content into their curriculum.

During the week participants will visit a multitude of UF/IFAS CALS departments, laboratories, Research and Education Centers, as well as connect with current Agricultural Education and Communication faculty and current Florida high school and middle school agricultural education teachers. Participants will experience indoor and outdoor laboratories and reflect on food security issues facing the world. Each participant will be asked to identify at least one standard and/or benchmark they would like to teach through the context of Agricultural, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR).

Throughout the week-long program participants will develop lessons with support from peer mentor agricultural teachers to implement in the classroom the following year.
