CATALySES teachers develop Action Research Proposals as a means to include emerging pathogens research content in their classrooms and/or community. At the conclusion of the two-week summer institute, teachers present their draft action research proposals and offer feedback to one another. The drafts are reviewed by CATALySES program staff and UF faculty and staff, comments are sent to individuals, and teachers have the opportunity to modify and further develop their action research proposal and lesson plan prior to implementation during the school year. In late January/early February of the following year, teachers return to UF for JSEHS, where they are able to present the results of their classroom interventions, before turning in their final reports in April.
