Equipment Lockers

What is included in each locker?

Equipment a la Carte | Cost: $75

• Pipetting Stations: 1-20 μl and a 20-200 μl micropipette for each lab group (up to 8 sets per locker), and pipette tips. Please note that several of the lockers, such as gel electrophoresis, require the use of pipetting stations, but that they need to be requested separately. 
• Gel Electrophoresis – E-Gel: red E-Gel rig and power source for each lab group (up to 3 per locker), UV transilluminator. Other lockers required: pipetting stations. Does not include E-gels which must be purchased separately from ThermoFisher
• Thermal Cycler: 48 well thermal cycler for conducting PCR. Please note that thermal cyclers are only available for pickup from the UF campus in Gainesville. 
• Heat Blocks: 40 well digital heat block (1 per locker). 
• Microtube racks: 80 well microtube racks to fit 1.5-2.5mL microtubes (up to 8 per locker). 
• PCR tube racks: 96 well racks to fit PCR tubes (up to 8 per locker).
• Microcentrifuge (6 place): low speed centrifuge (6000 RPM). Indicate if you need the setting for 1.5-2.5mL tubes or PCR tubes (1 per locker). 
• Microcentrifuge (12 place): high speed digital centrifuge (14,000 RPM) with timer (1 per locker)  (**requires pickup or a simultaneous classroom visit)
• Vortex: 0-3000 RPM vortex for mixing solutions (1 per locker) (**requires pickup or a simultaneous classroom visit)
• Mosquito Hatcheries (will need for 2-4 weeks, indicate start and end dates in comments): Bio-Quip small mosquito hatcheries for rearing mosquitoes. Teachers responsible for obtaining mosquito eggs or larvae. Please indicate number of hatcheries required, up to 6. 

Other Wet Lab Kits | Cost: $75

• Pipetting by Design: 96-well plates, 50 mL tubes for colored water. Other lockers required: pipetting stations (up to 15 student groups) 

Curriculum Kits | Cost: $125

• The Dengue Dilemma Kit: ELISA matching activity, ELISA simulation (up to 8 student groups) (Available only to ICORE and CATALySES participants)
• War of the 21st Century: The Cell Cycle, Cancer and Clinical Trials Kit: laminated cards, laminated cell cycle poster, Clinical Assay Kit (up to 8 student groups) (Available only to Bench to Bedside participants)
• The Pompe Predicament  Kit: laminated cards, DNA Structure to Function (Science Take-Out Kit) (modified), DBS GAA Testing Kit (colorimetric assay) (up to 8 student groups) (Available only to Bench to Bedside participants)

Books, ID cards, games, movies, etc. | Cost: $25

• Classroom book set – Fever: 1793: set of 30 books, extended borrowing time available 
• Classroom book set – The Hot Zone: set of 30 books, extended borrowing time available 
• Classroom book set – The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks: set of 30 books, extended borrowing time available 
• Giant Microbes: 15 piece set of plush giant microbes, information cards.
